The role

Ensuring our people have the right support, knowledge and guidance is essential to us, that's what this role is all about. We are looking for a Control Centre Lead to ensure we are continually improving our ways of working while providing operational support and technical guidance to our Control Centre staff. You'll contribute to projects that will add valuable operational insights across the business while making continuous improvements to our operating processes.

It's a technical, busy and challenging environment, so you'll need to solve problems and collaborate the find solutions within a wide range of situations. You might even get to use your skills on the control desk from time to time.


  • Provide day-to-day operational support and technical guidance to the Control Centre team

  • Maintain oversight of workflows and pipelines of upcoming jobs with a focus on delivery times

  • Ensure current operating methods are compliant with industry safety rules, guides and Orions operating standards

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive training programme and competency system for Network Controllers

  • Assist the Control Centre Manager with roster changes and staffing management

About you


  • Previous experience in a technical and operational controller background within an energy distributor or generator environment

  • Ability to solve problems and work constructively in a variance of scenarios

  • Strong relationship management where previous people leadership is beneficial

  • Ability to generate, collate and deliver training material while understanding each individuals' needs and requirements

  • Natural ability to connect and collaborate with others in an operational environment

  • Level 6 New Zealand Diploma in Electrical Engineering is an advantage

  • A curious, enthusiastic, pro-active and innovative approach
